It was 1998, and the Internet was relatively new to most people. As Bev (Vesota) Mapes, '99, sat in the computer lab of Grand Valley State University, she gazed at a satellite photo of the Earth that had been taken just moments before. While that seems insignificant today, it was an astounding thing more than 20 years ago. Instantly Bev realized two things: First, that the Internet could open up possibilities never before imagined for ordinary people, groups, and businesses. Second, that she was definitely hooked! Bev worked at several companies in various roles after graduating, including Merit Network, Atomic Object, and GE Aviation. But in 2006 she started her own digital marketing business, Top Of The List LLC - https://topofthelist.net. None of this would have happened had it not been for GVSU and her professors in Computer Science, Marketing, and Management. Bev is proud of her achievements, and very grateful for GVSU's role.
