He returned to West Michigan in 1991 to teach and coach at Jenison High School. For 26 years, he taught math, served as a School to Career Coordinator, and led the district as their Director of Information Technology. In 2016, he retired and joined Discovery Education as an Online Community Manager supporting over thirty thousand Discovery Education users with an online community where they could learn, share, and connect with each other. Currently, he is the Director of Information Technology for Kenowa Hills Public Schools. Dave holds a Master's degree in educational leadership and a Bachelor's degree in mathematics from Grand Valley State University. He and his wife of 30 years (CJ) stay busy traveling to their favorite places including Mackinac Island, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington. Locally, you will find them supporting Jenison athletics as scorekeepers, clock operators and more for football and basketball. They have two grown children, both graduates of GVSU, who also live in the Grand Rapids area. A frequent speaker at educational technology conferences, Dave has presented at ICE, FETC, ISTE, Discovery Educator Network, and has also led workshops at more than 20 MACUL Conferences. In addition to being a founding member of MACUL's SIG admin group, he was instrumental in the well received Mindshare event sponsored by that organization. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the MACUL organization.
