Technology project management is the discipline of planning, executing, and overseeing technology-driven projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Overview

This program combines technical knowledge with project management skills, equipping students to oversee complex projects from start to finish. The program offers opportunities for hands-on learning through internships, capstone projects, and collaboration with industry partners, allowing students to apply their skills in real-world settings and gain valuable professional experience.

You will study a variety of key topics like project management fundamentals, risk management, quality management, and technology leadership. These courses are taught by experienced faculty with real-world experience, ensuring that you gain both academic knowledge and practical skills.

Admission Information

To be admitted, students need to meet Grand Valley State University’s minimum requirements for transfer student admissions and have completed or be in their last semester of an associate of applied science degree, an associate of general studies, an associate of applied arts and science degree, an associate in business degree, or similar technical applied degrees.

Career Opportunities

Plan, initiate, and manage information technology (IT) projects. Lead and guide the work of technical staff. Serve as liaison between business and technical aspects of projects. Plan project stages and assess business implications for each stage. Monitor progress to assure deadlines, standards, and cost targets are met.
