Predental studies is an academic track that equips students with the foundational knowledge and skills needed to succeed in dental school and build successful careers as dentists.
Dental schools accept students with various majors; predental students at GVSU commonly choose biomedical sciences, biology, biochemistry, or behavioral neuroscience. Students are assigned an advisor to help prepare them for professional school and complete the prerequisite coursework to score well on the Dental Admission Test (DAT).
Grand Valley's program prepares you for dental school and the DAT with courses in life sciences, chemistry, and genetics. It also includes art classes to enhance manual dexterity, and business, social sciences, humanities, and communication courses to develop a well-rounded skill set essential for a dental career.
You will benefit from state-of-the-art labs, including a cadaver lab, offering rigorous preparation for dental school. The preprofessional advising team and GVSU Career Center provide extensive academic and professional resources and coordinate workshops and events, such as healthcare panels, school fairs, and interview prep sessions. Throughout the dental school application process, you will receive personalized support through one-on-one advising, webinars, and application review services. Additionally, joining the PreDental Club offers numerous opportunities to network with dental school representatives, alumni, and peers.
