Occupational safety and health management (OSHM) ensures workplace safety by identifying, preventing, and managing risks that could harm workers.
Professionals in this field monitor safety standards, manage emergency response plans, and educate employees on safe practices. OSHM at Grand Valley provides experiential learning opportunities and prepares students for professional certification.
You will be immersed in a curriculum combining psychology, health sciences, engineering, design thinking, and problem-solving. You will be exposed to immense learning experiences and opportunities for professional growth, and encounter real-world applications to enhance your learning experience. The program concludes with professional certification credentials upon graduation.
The program blends hands-on and theoretical learning, offering paid internships to help you gain practical, marketable skills. Launch your career on a trajectory with exceptional growth opportunities, leadership potential, and nearly 100% job placement. You will earn prestigious certifications like the Graduate Safety Practitioner® and Associate Safety and Health Management, guided by knowledgeable, board-certified faculty with industry experience. Accredited by the Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission of ABET, this program ensures you are well-prepared for meaningful careers.
The B.S. in (OSHM) is a secondary admission program. A student who has declared an OSH major is assigned an academic advisor from the professional advising staff in student services for the first two years and then from the faculty of the OSH Department after secondary admission.
