Information systems collect, organize, store, retrieve, process, and analyze information to manage activities and interact with patients and suppliers.

Overview

The Health Care Information Systems (HIS) minor combines technology and health care, two fields in high demand. The medical field continues to be transformed by information technology, and the HIS minor prepares future health professionals with a strong foundation in health care information technology.

You will develop foundational healthcare knowledge and learn technical skills through data analysis and data mining. The curriculum includes health care information systems, information assurance, and functional and administrative practices in health information management, ensuring a comprehensive education that prepares you for the complexities of the health care industry.

The program trains you beyond the classroom through practical experiences, providing excellent job market preparation and valuable industry insights. With small class sizes, you are ensured personalized attention from highly qualified faculty, most of whom hold doctoral degrees and possess extensive industry experience.
