• 18 CreditsHealth care ethics delves into the complex moral principles and critical decision-making processes that shape medical practice and influence health care outcomes.
The minor focuses on issues such as patient rights, fairness in the distribution of health care resources, and the ethical implications of medical treatments and research. This field helps guide health care decisions to be just, respectful, and in the best interest of patients.
Foundational courses study ethics and moral philosophy. Elective courses cover a wide range of philosophical topics, including health care ethics, social and political philosophy, feminist philosophy, and the philosophy of science.
A grounding in philosophical thinking, particularly in ethics and value, is invaluable for personal, practical, and professional growth across various majors. Faculty, who are published scholars and researchers, are deeply committed to undergraduate philosophy education. Every career path has an ethical component, making a minor in ethics a valuable addition to any major.
