• 24 CreditsThe geography teaching minor helps students gain a deep understanding of geography while learning the principles of social studies and geography pedagogy.
This minor provides education students with a foundation in human and physical geography, a strong understanding of concepts and principles of global and regional geography, a deep content understanding of regions of the world, and a basic competency in the use of geographic techniques.
Core courses cover physical geography, environmental geography, and social studies pedagogy. You will take regional studies courses to understand the unique geographic elements of Michigan, North America, and beyond. The required methods course ensures that your skill set includes experience with current technology.
You will acquire cutting-edge research, technology, and education skills, leading to exciting job opportunities and enhancing graduate school admissions. This program offers dynamic coursework and community engagement, providing hands-on, real-world experience and valuable networking connections.
