Student Employees

Students can use Workday to find on-campus jobs as well as to access their timesheets and payment information.

Workday will help GVSU's student employees succeed during their initial interactions with the university. With Workday, undergraduate and graduate students with hourly positions as well as graduate students with tuition and stipends can manage business processes associated with their job(s).

Please visit the Training and Resources for Student Employees page for additional training and resources.

Work-Study and Non-Work Study

Student employees are vital to GVSU's success. At GVSU, we are dedicated to helping students find meaningful on-campus jobs and maximize the value of their employment experiences. Search and apply for work-study and non-work-study jobs via a student-specific career opportunities site. Posted jobs are updated in real-time.

Self-Service

Students can manage their personal information within Workday, such as updating emergency contacts and viewing tax information. As a student employee, you will be able to get started on the right foot by completing onboarding activities, including submitting all federally required documentation.  In addition, Workday's self-service capability will provide student employees with the ability to find the right solutions to their problems quickly and easily.

Pay Slips

A payslip is generated by Workday each pay period detailing your earnings, including taxes and other deductions, employee-paid benefits, and other payment information. In Workday, you can view your pay slip the day before it is disbursed.

Direct Deposits

Enjoy the convenience of having your paycheck hit your bank account on payday. Set up direct deposits (pay elections) in Workday, which can include up to three direct deposit accounts. Students are encouraged to set up their direct deposits with a U.S. bank account.

Hours Worked

Track and submit hours worked for manager approval. In the event that you need to change your time entry after it has been submitted, approved, and paid out, you may also perform a retroactive time adjustment. Keep in mind that student employees are limited to 25 hours per week during the academic year and 40 hours per week during the spring/summer semester and university breaks.
