Did You Know...

The Berlin zoo, Berlin's Zoologischer Garten, is the largest zoo in the world, with 1,500 species and more than 14,000 animals.

Germany is the country of origin of more than 300 types of bread, and of more than 1,500 kinds of sausages.

Walt Disney used the German Neuschwanstein Castle, in Bavaria, as a model for the castles in the film "Sleeping Beauty", in Disneyland, and in Disneyworld.

In 1916, during World War I, Germany became the first European country to ever adopt the Daylight Saving Time, also called "summer time".

The German Autobahn, completed in 1932, is the only road system in Europe with no speed limit, and it is composed of 7,456 miles of roadways.

One of the most translated German novels of all times, is Anne Frank's Diary of a Young Girl. Her work sold over 300 million copies worldwide, and it has been translated into 67 languages.
