Hailee Colby is a senior nursing major and co-captain of the Equestrian Hunt Club. As soon as she could speak, Hailee begged her parents to let her ride a horse. Saddling up at age 10, Hailee knew this would be a lifelong passion.
GV's Hunt Club is divided into two different riding styles, Hunt Equestrian and Stock. They participate in competitions around Michigan and have even come in second place out of 12 teams in the region. Because Hunt Club is a team sport compared to the individual experience of horse showing, the organization provides a lot of chances for team bonding. "We all do it because we love it," Hailee says.
Hunt Club also provides opportunities for Hailee to develop her leadership skills as the co-captain on the e-board. As a senior graduating this month, Hailee can say that this organization "was my favorite part of college. It gave me a community of people who loved horses as much as I do."
