GV Fraternity Makes Waves in Flint

Grand Valley’s chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha recently completed a water bottle drive for the city of Flint, collecting truckloads full of water to send to people in need. Emmanuela Jannaro, a graduate assistant in Fraternity and Sorority Life, is proud of the work done by GVSU students. “For an organization of less than 20, this kind of work really impressed me,” says Jannaro of Alpha Phi Alpha’s hard work and the generosity of the GVSU community.

The drive was held from October 14 to October 31. The Alphas collaborated with the Flint chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha in order to best understand the need in the community and partnered with the company Carbon Stories to help transport all of the water to Flint. The water was distributed by the Grand Valley and Flint Alphas, employees of Carbon Stories, and members of Delta Sigma Theta and Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where the water was delivered.
