GVSU's Student Voter Engagement Summit Huge Success

GVSU hosted the Michigan Student Voter Engagement Summit on May 10, 2019, that helped teach the importance of getting students involved politically and how to encourage them to do so. The event was immensely successful with nearly 100 attendees and 24 campuses from all over Michigan represented.

The summit took place at the GVSU PEW campus downtown Grand Rapids. The Michigan Secretary of State and local elections officials were in attendance, as well as representatives from national organizations such as the Campus Vote Project, All In Challenge, and the Student Learn Students Vote Coalition. The summit consisted of a series of conferences and presentations pertaining to voter registration, voter education, ballot access and turnout, students as voter advocates, and more. Hosting the Michigan Student Voter Engagement Summit helped Grand Valley State University receive the official title of “voter-friendly campus” in 2019.
