Duties of Volunteer
Mentoring Services of D.A. Blodgett- St. John's, (previously Big Brothers Big Sisters) is looking for volunteers for their School-Based mentoring program! Mentoring Services partners with local schools to match volunteer mentors with students, grades K-8, who have been identified as being in need of additional support throughout their week. Mentors provide support for their students, whether socially, emotionally, or academically, through the foundation of a trusting relationship. Volunteers meet their student on school grounds for one hour, once a week, during the school year only. As an accredited mentoring program, Mentoring Services highly values the training, education, and quality support of all mentors. Therefore, ongoing social worker support is provided for the duration of all matches. Matches support a youth toward their goals through activities such as playing games, doing crafts, going to the gym, assisting on school work, and partaking in rapport building activities. We require a minimum commitment of one school year.
