The Embarking Experience
Start your Statistics Voyage off strong at Statistics Signing Day! Make a commitment to your education in statistics and the Statistics Department will make a commitment to you. At Signing Day you meet faculty, staff, students, and maybe a special guest or two!
Experiential Learning
Research, community engagement, internships, and study abroad are some of the ways the Statistics Voyage will transform your classroom learning into real-world experience. Every Statistics major will take part in at least two hands-on opportunities.
Reflective Portfolio
An important component of your Statistics Voyage is the Reflective Portfolio. This digital folder helps you to store important documents from your time at GVSU. Projects, reflections, and other materials is a great way to show employers what you did – not just what you were taught!
Capstone
Your Statistics Voyage reaches its destination in the capstone course which requires you to integrate what you’ve learned throughout the major. Data collection, data analysis, data visualizations, statistical inference, collaboration, writing, oral presentation are just some of the skills you may be required to use in the Capstone!
The Statistics Voyage is part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) Voyage. Beginning Fall 2025 every student who has a major that is part of CLAS takes part in the Voyage. To learn more about the CLAS Voyage click here.
