Roger B. Chaffee Scholarship Fund

Established in 1967, the Roger B. Chaffee Scholarship is the nation’s oldest scholarship named in honor of a fallen American astronaut. Each year, a $3,000 college scholarship is awarded to an outstanding high school senior, in the Kent Intermediate School District, who intends to pursue a college career in engineering or the sciences. The scholarship memorializes Navy Lieutenant Commander Roger B. Chaffee. As a bright and enduring legacy, the Roger B. Chaffee Scholarship Fund was established by Roger’s family and friends and in 2017 awarded its 50th scholarship. Today the Chaffee Scholarship Fund continues to promote educational excellence throughout Kent County, Michigan. For more information on the scholarship click here.
