GVSU Alumni

"When I brought my two-year-old daughter to her first GVSU basketball game, she immediately showed an interest in the Laker Dance Team. We sat on the end line behind the dance team, and my daughter soon began to imitate some of the actions of the dance team. The team members soon began interacting with my daughter, and before long, attending basketball games became the highlight of our week.

The members of the Laker Dance Team have become an important part of my daughter's growth and development, as she has experienced some developmental and social delays stemming from being born very prematurely. Through my daughter's interactions with the Laker Dance Team, she has become more confident in her social interactions, and her physical movements have steadily improved to where she can now imitate many different dance moves. In true Grand Valley fashion, the Laker Dance Team's commitment to excellence extends beyond the competition floor to their personal interactions with spectators and fans; the Laker Dance Team exemplifies all of the best aspects of Grand Valley State University.

It is rewarding to help support a student group like the Laker Dance Team that positively represents Grand Valley State University at athletic events and competitions around the state and across the nation."
