"I began working the GVSU Rec Center most for a source of income, but it became must more than a paycheck. It became a community. I have made so many great connections as a Rec Center user, lifeguard, staff member, and and Student Building Supervisor.

I continue to work at the Rec Center because I can get away from all the other stresses of life and enjoy being with my favorite group of people. I'm also extremely passionate about what I do. I love helping others, and I love seeing the community come together to improve their physical fitness through the various services the facility and programs have to offer.

My involvement with the Rec Center has greatly impacted my experience at GVSU. I found my sense of belonging here through this community."
