Netherlands: English Education
This program is located in Maastricht, a vibrant university town in southern Netherlands near the borders of Belgium and Germany. Students will participate in a field placement in an international or bilingual Dutch elementary or secondary school and complete two (3-credit) courses that fulfill degree requirements.
This program allows majors in English and PCKET (Elementary Ed) and minors in Applied Linguistics and ESL to complete their linguistics/ESL requirement (ENG 355 or 365) and their advanced literacy requirement (ENG 400 or 401). Prospective secondary teachers take ENG 365 & ENG 400, and prospective elementary teachers take ENG 355 & ENG 401.
Highlights:

- Tour the city and the network of underground caves that run beneath it
- Visit Amsterdam
- Tour the Anne Frank House
- Experience NL biking culture first-hand: travel by bicycle throughout your stay

- Visit the Netherlands American (WWII) Cemetery

Excursions:
The program includes a walking and biking orientation to Maastricht and the environs. In addition to other local excursions, there will be an overnight trip to Amsterdam and the Anne Frank House. Students will be encouraged to travel on their own to nearby destinations such as Paris, Bruges, Antwerp, or London on several free weekends.
