Types of Presentations

Presentations and exhibits are either Student-initiated (the student completes the registration form, and the faculty mentor endorses the presentation) or Faculty-initiated and curated (the faculty creates a presentation or exhibit and invites students to present). The types of presentations are noted below:

Student-initiated presentations

  • Poster/Portfolio (Displayed all day: presenter chooses one hour to stand by the poster for Q&A)
  • Oral (20-25 minute presentation including q/a)
  • Film/video (20-60 minutes)
  • Recorded Videos (20-60 minutes)
  • Live Performance (20-60 minutes)
  • Mini Zines (Displayed all-day April 7-10, 2025)
  • Podcast (Available to tune in the week of SSD April 7-10, 2025)

Faculty initiated/ curated sessions and exhibits

  • Session (1 hour, faculty mentor initiated: a set of oral presentations around a general theme, but not intentionally linked, ex., a group of students presenting on their research in the PSY Dpt, or a group of students presenting on a general theme such as sustainability)
  • Extended Session (up to 8 hours, faculty mentor initiated: This presentation type is similar to a traditional session; however, extended sessions are longer. The extended session was created to accommodate classes and departments that need additional time beyond one hour)
  • Exhibition of Art (A Faculty Curated Exhibit is coordinated by a faculty member who invites students' art into the exhibit)
