Why I Became a Physical Educator:
Actually teaching found me! As a child I was always outside playing or participating in a variety of sports, so movement was something I enjoyed. While in college I explored a variety of majors and never "loved" any of the long term jobs that might come from those majors. I was teaching swimming lessons, water aerobics to seniors and life guarding to pay my way through college and I thought, hey I love this, I should be a teacher. That's how I became a PE teacher.

What I Love Most About Our Program:
I love that I am able to work with our HPE students in many classes, out in the field, at conferences and in our fun social events. I think we offer students a variety of opportunities to find their strengths and passion. Each year as groups of students graduate, I'm a little bit sad because I will miss seeing their faces everyday, but then I think about how I get to work with them as they go out and start their own HPE programs and I'm reminded all over again how much I love our GVSU HPE program!
