Power Study Hour, AI, Writing as a Study Method, and More...
Studying can feel overwhelming on top of all the other daily tasks necessary to succeed. Specific study methods, organization tips and mindful habits can make those stressful moments more digestible.
Homework:
- Try one study strategy and prepare to talk about it with your athletic advisor.
Choosing the Right Study Environment:
Your study space matters! This week, take a “field trip” to the library or other quiet spaces on campus. Notice where you focus best, sometimes a change of scenery can boost productivity.
Power Study Hour & Pomodoro Timer
The Power Study Hour method helps you focus by studying in short, timed bursts (think 25 minutes of focused work + a short break).
Track your progress with the Power Study Hour sticker to keep yourself motivated! Stop by the LASC office to pick up your own!
How to Make Your Notes Work Harder
Don’t stop at just writing/ typing things down, review and supplement your notes to lock in learning.
Try:
- Turning key terms into flashcards,
- Bringing your notes to office hours for clarification ,
- Getting help through on-campus tutoring, or
- Rewriting notes by hand!
Cornell Notes
Instead of using an entire page as a single stream of notes, a page is divided into three separate areas. The larger section – two thirds of the page – captures what is happening in real time: discussion, information, decisions, explanations, thoughts. You write here continuously, without interrupting your attention.
