40th Annual MLK Celebration: Monday, Jan. 19, 6 p.m., Wealthy Theatre, 1130 Wealthy St. SE, Grand Rapids; join the West Michigan community at this free event of artistic performances and speakers 

MLK Keynote Presentation: Tuesday, Jan. 20, 10 a.m., Kirkhof Center, Grand River Room; Derrick Johnson, president and CEO of the NAACP, will kick off GVSU's MLK commemoration week

Silent March/MLK Keynote Presentation: Wednesday, Jan. 21, 4 p.m.; silent march will begin at Zumberge Hall and end at the Kirkhof Center at 4:30 p.m., when GVSU graduate Dar Mayweather will give a presentation 

Kaufman Interfaith Institute Event: Thursday, Jan. 22, 6-8:30 p.m., Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences; panel discussion, "King In Conversation: The Spiritualities of Non-Violence," followed by dinner; RSVP here

MLK Day of Service and Solidarity: Saturday, Jan. 24, 8 a.m.-2 p.m., meet at Kirkhof Center; students will hear a keynote presentation, then be bused to West Michigan nonprofit organizations to volunteer; deadline to register is Jan. 14 or until filled

Campus Life Night: Sunday, Jan. 25, 6-8 p.m., Kirkhof Center and Mary Idema Pew Library; student organizations, campus departments and local businesses/nonprofits will be represented
