Clinical Exercise Science Emphasis

This emphasis focuses on the scientific principles underpinning Exercise Science and prepares students to work in clinical settings such as Cardiac Rehabilitation or Exercise Physiology. It is also an excellent area of study for those students looking to continue into graduate or professional programs, such as Exercise Physiology, Physical Therapy, or Physician Assistant studies.

Clinical Exercise Science (AY 23-24)

 

 

The following courses must be completed to fulfill the Clinical Exercise Science emphasis requirements:

  • EXS 465 Clinical Exercise Physiology
  • BMS 208 Human Anatomy
  • BMS 290 Human Physiology
  • BMS 291 Laboratory in Human Physiology
  • CHM 231 Introductory Organic Chemistry
  • CHM 232 Biological Chemistry
  • PHY 200 Physics for Life Sciences
  • PSY 310 Behavior Modification

Potential Substitutions

If you are on a catalog year prior to AY 18-19 you may substitute the following courses:

BMS 306 (any 3-credit 300+ level course not in the major)

BMS 415 (any 3-credit 300+ level course not in the major)

Typical subs include: BIO 355, BMS 375, MOV 310, MOV 350, EXS 460, MOV 480, PSY 364, STA 345

All catalog years may substitute PHY 216 or PHY 220 for PHY 200

 

Program Grade Requirements

EXS 490 pre-req = EXS 420 minimum grade of B-

EXS 390 pre-req = EXS 320/321 minimum grade of B-
