Alternative Breaks
Alternative Breaks is a service organization that sends out multiple week-long service trips on both environmental and social topics over winter and spring break. GVSU Beekeepers
Learn what all the buzz is about! The GVSU Beekeepers are a group of students who are actively involved in managing honey bees at the Sustainable Agriculture Project and also manage an apiary on the Meijer Campus in Holland. This organization hosts honey extraction and bottling events as well as educating on the importance of bees for the environment. Connect with them on Facebook and Instagram.
Biology Club
The GVSU Biology Club provides opportunities to build relationships with faculty and fellow students who have a similar interest in biology. You will also be given a chance to interact with the community through various events and gain awareness of career and research opportunities in biology-related fields. Any and all majors are welcome to participate!
Farm Club
The GVSU Farm Club is an organization of students who are committed to promoting the principles and practices of sustainable farming and agriculture among the Grand Valley State University community. This group hopes to enrich the campus and surrounding communities with agrarian knowledge and experiences. Geology Club

Laker Food Co. Green Team
Interested in food and sustainability? Join the Green Team! This student volunteer group is dedicated to implementing sustainability into food systems on campus. The highlight activities include educational tables, helping with Zero-Waste Football Games, and volunteering at the SAP! Seidman Sustainability Association
The Seidman Sustainability Association was created to educate and connect the community to the sustainability movement through the business perspective. The club aims to take action through meetings, events, and having conversations that make a difference in the environment. With a strong connection to the West Michigan community, SSA builds relationships with local companies to promote their business and highlight their sustainable actions with collaboration and joint participation.
Soil and Water Conservation Society
The GVSU SWCS participates in local conservation projects, including environmental clean-ups, habitat restorations, and similar community service activities. The organization's mission is to promote the science and art of soil, water and related natural resource management to achieve sustainability. Soil Judging Club
Soil Judging is a nationally-recognized, educational endeavor. Undergraduates engage in soil judging activities in both informal and formal settings, including but not limited to university-specific practices, as well as regional and national soil judging competitions. As the official soil judging club of GVSU, it is our mission to gain new employable skills, and further our understanding of how soils develop and support ecosystems, by engaging in hands-on soil and land-use investigations. This club also aims to connect people and communities with a broad range of soils, to help further our collective understanding of the relationship between people and soils.
GVSU Solar Racing Team
GVSU Solar Racing is a student organization with the goal of successfully competing in the American Solar Challenge. The organization's goal is to establish a club that appreciates and embraces the alternative energy improvements in the automotive industry. Students of Citizens' Climate Lobby
Students of Citizens' Climate Lobby provides a welcoming community in which students can come together and act on their climate concerns by advocating and lobbying for bipartisan legislation reform. Our goal is to establish a sustainable foundation to push for climate action across all geographic regions. CCL focuses on using shared values rather than growing the political divide to make significant change. CCL focuses on putting a price on carbon, electrification, healthy forests, and permitting reform. Throughout the school year we will organize various events related to the core values of CCL to exercise our rights to influence legislation. We will meet each month to discuss and plan these events, talk about current climate related event happening around the world, and more. There will be numerous volunteer opportunities, internship opportunities, and amazing exposure to the field overall.

Student Environmental Coalition
The Student Environmental Coalition (SEC) is a service and advocacy organization intended to promote student interest in local, regional, and global environmental concerns. The SEC mission is: "Helping to engage students at Grand Valley's campus to be conscious citizens by promotion of environmental awareness." SEC organizes educational events, campus cleanups, and community outreach programs within the Grand Valley student body and greater Grand Rapids area. Youth Conservation Council
GVSU Youth Conservation Climate Council is a student-led advocacy and service organization dedicated to empowering and uplifting young people's voices in the fight for a fair and sustainable future. They believe that youth perspectives are essential in shaping environmental policy and creating meaningful change. Its mission on campus is to mobilize students to take action on climate justice issues, engage in policy discussions, and collaborate with local and state leaders. The Council provides a welcoming space where every voice has value, and every member can make an impact.
