Dr. Hall joined the Division of K-12 Education Innovation and Scholar Success in November 2018, bringing more than 10 years of experience in higher education and K-12 school to the team. He works closely with high school students and college students to ensure they have the resources and support they need to succeed. He has previously held roles as an Admissions Counselor, High School Counselor, Career Programs Facilitator, and as a Pre-College Coordinator at Ferris State University. He is passionate about bridging the poverty gap between low-income families, first-generation college-going students and students of color with college attainment and college completion.

Shelby joined the DEISS team as the Assistant Director of Charter Through College Programming, a role where she works directly with current and prospective GVSU students, providing programs to foster engagement and success. She is an alumnus of Michigan Math and Science Academy, a GVSU-authorized charter public school located in Warren, MI. She initially joined the DEISS team as a student worker in her sophomore year at Grand Valley. She later transitioned into a new role as a Graduate Assistant for the Charter Through College Program. Shelby is passionate about advocating for students who struggle with mental health, trauma, and special needs.

Genevieve joined the DEISS team as the Assistant Director for Charter Scholars, a role where she works directly with current GVSU Charter Scholars and oversees our Thompson Student Success Center. Genevieve has been involved in many aspects of campus life, having been a part of the GVSU Marching Band, the Criminal Justice Student Association, Dance Troupe, Alpha Phi Sigma, and currently teaches a section of EDH 181 Navigating College Success. She is a first-generation college student who is passionate about helping students succeed and overcome barriers in the way of their educational journey.

Hannah joined the DEISS team as the Charter Through College Graduate Assistant, a supportive role for the Assistant Director of Charter through College Programming. She started as a Campus Navigator in 2023 and has since graduated with her Bachelor's degree of Psychology. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in social work here at Grand Valley. She is excited to apply her passion of working with youth and young adults to a field where mental health is advocated and prioritized.

Riley joined the DEISS team as the Pre-College Programming Graduate Assistant, a supportive role for the Charter Through College Specialist. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in social work here at Grand Valley. She aspires to work in mental health with teens and young adults after graduating.

Andrew serves as the TSSC Graduate Assistant, where he supports the center’s daily operations, coordinates student employees, assists with programs and events, and helps maintain a welcoming environment for Charter and Thompson Scholars. He also contributes to data organization and reporting efforts that help the team better understand student engagement and improve its services. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Data Science and Analytics at Grand Valley State University. He is passionate about using data, technology, and student-centered leadership to improve educational experiences and help students succeed.
