Mental Health Ambassadors
Our Program
The Mental Health Ambassadors Program at the University Counseling Center gives students the chance to make a real impact in just one day. Through hands-on training, you’ll gain practical tools, resources, and skills to recognize and respond when a fellow Laker is struggling with their mental health.
Training covers a wide range of topics, including:
-
Recognizing signs of distress
-
Connecting peers to campus and community resources
-
Offering support and intervention strategies
-
Understanding alcohol and other drug use
-
Suicide prevention
-
Practicing self-care
At the end of the training, you’ll be certified as a Mental Health Ambassador—ready to bring what you’ve learned back to your community. Best of all, it’s a one-time commitment with a lasting impact!
