Mental Health Ambassadors

Our Program

The Mental Health Ambassadors Program at the University Counseling Center gives students the chance to make a real impact in just one day. Through hands-on training, you’ll gain practical tools, resources, and skills to recognize and respond when a fellow Laker is struggling with their mental health.

Training covers a wide range of topics, including:

  • Recognizing signs of distress

  • Connecting peers to campus and community resources

  • Offering support and intervention strategies

  • Understanding alcohol and other drug use

  • Suicide prevention

  • Practicing self-care

At the end of the training, you’ll be certified as a Mental Health Ambassador—ready to bring what you’ve learned back to your community. Best of all, it’s a one-time commitment with a lasting impact!

For more information contact Mikaela Walburg at [email protected] or (616) 331-3266.
