If you plan on student teaching for longer than 90 days (12 weeks) you must apply for a student visa well before the start of your placement. There are two types of visas, a 180 day student visa and another for longer studies. Start the application process with as much lead time as your consulate allows (4-12 weeks). Be sure to consult with a study abroad advisor or your COST coordinator at your university on how to apply and how to go about completing the paperwork.
