Program Plans: Human-Centered Computing (HCC)
Due to prerequisites, the sequencing of courses for the Human Centered Computing major is determined by initial math placement. Math placement can be determined from test scores, GPA, incoming credit, or by taking the math proficiency tests.

Current Academic Year 2026-2027
The HCC curriculum for the 2026–2027 academic year is unchanged from the 2025–2026 curriculum. A revised curriculum will take effect for the 2027–2028 academic year and is reflected in these plans. It is recommended that students follow the upcoming changes and will be prompted to update their catalog year at that time to follow the new curriculum.
Academic Year 2025-2026
Please note, due to the new nature of this program, these program plans may change based on when the new courses are added to the GVSU Catalog. It is possible courses will be offered in new or different semester compared to these early plans.
If you started at Grand Valley before Fall 2025, you will need to update your catalog year before you are able to declare Human-Centered Computing as your major in myBanner. When you begin your education at GVSU you are given a catalog year based on when you enroll in classes.
Updating your catalog year is a simple process, just complete and submit this form.
