Applicant Information

The following section consist of the Applied Food & Nutrition (AFN) prerequisite courses. If you have not completed a course, you will be asked to indicate how you intend to complete each outstanding course to the best of your ability.

The AFN prerequisite, Biochemistry (GVSU: CHM 230 or CHM 234) is the only course that requires a minimum grade of "C+" or better. If an applicant plans to pursue a Clinical Dietetics program a "B-" or better is required in Biochemistry. The AFN program recommends a "C" or better in all remaining prerequisites, however students may still apply if they have a lower passing grade as long as their minimum cumulative GPA is 2.70 or higher.

Any applicant not able to complete the prerequisite courses prior to the fall start of the program should contact the College of Health Professions Student Services (CHPSS) office to schedule an appointment with an academic advisor.

  • GVSU students may use Navigate to schedule an appointment
  • Non-GVSU students that have previously met with a CHP advisor can call the office at 616-331-5900 to schedule an appointment.
  • Non-GVSU students that have NOT previously met with a CHP advisor should click on the link below and complete the request form - a CHP receptionist will connect to get you scheduled.
