Requirements for a Major in Social Studies - Secondary 5-12 Emphasis
Students seeking certification must have a 3.0 GPA in the social studies major with secondary emphasis to be eligible to enter the College of Education.
B.A. Degree Requirements
Students seeking the B.A. degree must demonstrate third-semester proficiency in a foreign language.
B.S. Degree Requirements
Students seeking the B.S. degree must complete the following:
- STA 215 - Introductory Applied Statistics (3 credits)
- HST 290 - The Historian's Craft: What Historians Know and How They Know It (3 credits)
- SST 311 - Data Literacy for Social Studies Teachers (3 credits)

- Students must complete TWO non-U.S. regional courses. They must be chosen from TWO different regional categories. Only one course may be at the 200-level.
- Students may select one PLS course to satisfy EITHER one topical US History course OR one non-U.S. regional category course.
