Social Innovation Student Writes Blog Post on Resiliency During COVID-19

Tamela Spicer, a graduate student in the Professional Master’s in Social Innovation program, wrote a blog post, "Capacity Building for Resilience Part 2: Adapting to a VUCA Environment," based on research conducted in her Social Innovation 620 Case Studies course. Spicer’s blog post focuses on the need for non-profit organizations and their leaders to foster resiliency and build capacity in the face of the destabilizing effects of the COVID-19 epidemic. Spicer writes, “Crisis can create space for new opportunities as it makes the status quo untenable and creates the sense of urgency needed to drive change." Read the full post on the Johnson Center blog.

Spicer is currently serving as Program Manager for the Johnson Center for Philanthropy and is pursuing a second master’s degree in Social Innovation. Learn more about the Professional Master of Arts in Social Innovation at gvsu.edu/grad/si.
