Athletic Training Graduate Assistant Position (Positions Filled)

Position: Graduate Assistant Position (4 available) in Athletic Training starting in August 25, 2025, and runs through the end of the winter semester on May 2, 2026.

Qualifications: To qualify for a graduate assistantship at GVSU, you must be fully admitted to the GVSU MAT graduate program at the time of appointment, AND be a full-time student within the program.  You must be in good academic standing as outlined in the Graduate Handbook and the MAT Program Graduate Handbook to qualify for and maintain the assistantship (i.e., must have, and maintain throughout length of GA contract, a 3.0 or higher GPA).

Responsibilities: 

  1. Assist faculty with research and scholarly activities including but not limited to, database searches, literature review preparation, data collection, analysis, and manuscript preparation (60%).
  2. Assist the MAT faculty with teaching as assigned (ATH 210, ATH 217, 218– others as assigned) & Organize/implement weekly proficiency/skill labs for MAT students and ATH 217 and 218 pre-admission students (20%).
  3. Assist the Admission Coordinator (AC), Program Director (PD), Director of Clinical Education (DEC), and MAT Faculty with administrative duties as assigned (20%).

Supervision: GAs will meet weekly with their assigned supervisor throughout the academic year.  Performance reviews will occur at minimum once per academic year. 

Salary: $3250 per semester (10 hours/week) with a tuition waiver of 4.5 credit hours per semester (Fall and Winter) with a maximum of 9 per year.

Orientation: All graduate assistants are required to attend a New Graduate Assistant Orientation prior to the semester in which they start their GA position.  Dates and times of upcoming sessions will be posted at: https://www.gvsu.edu/gs/graduate-assistantships-student-information-and-resources-11.htm. Fall 2025 New GA Orientation is Friday, August 22, 2025, 3:00-4:00 pm in Loosemore Auditorium on the downtown Pew campus.
