Background and Drug Screen Testing

Clinical sites are a vital part of the Athletic Training Program and provide critical experiential learning for students. In order to ensure the safest environment, the University requires that all students undergo a criminal history background check and 10-panel drug screen.

Therefore, it is the policy of the Athletic Training Program (ATP) is that all students submit a 10-panel drug screen and background check. All associated costs will be the student's responsibility. In the event of a positive "red flag" on either the background check or the drug screen, the matter will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Further, the ATP reserves the right to conduct subsequent background checks and drug screens as it deems appropriate once a student has been accepted into the Program. The faculty will take any action deemed appropriate as a result of the findings.

All students accepted to the MAT will receive specific instructions where the tests can be completed and any corresponding deadlines.
