Wendy & Edgar Marty Catalogue Raisonné Endowed Fellowship
Fellowship Summary
Wendy & Edgar Marty are advocates for the arts in West Michigan. They believe that art enriches life and hope to expand opportunities for students to integrate the humanities into their own lives. This endowment is established by Edgar Marty, in memory of his wife, Wendy, to recognize their collective efforts in supporting artists and the greater community’s embrace of visual and material culture.
Purpose: To offer financial assistance and mentorship for an undergraduate student(s) to work on an art research or publication project with the Grand Valley State University (GVSU) Art Museum and a faculty member through the GVSU Center for Undergraduate Scholar Engagement. The research and publication project will consider long-term project sustainability, impact, and community coordination factors. The funds may be used to support the faculty member’s involvement as well. The student and faculty member will consider the impact the artist has had on the community and the broader impacts on their respective fields. Possible GVSU Art Museum projects may include accomplishing new work or continuing work within a pre-existing project, such as:
- Catalogue raisonné development – critical foundation work for future projects in the humanities.
- GVSU art collection catalog research and publication projects
- Exhibition curation
