The Collection

While most of the GVSU collection is on public view, and can be found throughout university buildings on all seven GVSU campuses or in one of five dedicated exhibition locations, much of the collection is stored behind the scenes.

Our online database, powered by Collective Access, allows GVSU faculty, staff, students, and researchers from around the world to access information about all the artwork and artists in our collection.

Digital Publications

We are actively collecting works of art that support our mission and vision.

  • Donation offers are reviewed by GVSU Art Museum Collection Committee. Please note- we are not able to accept every donation that is offered.
  • Grand Valley State University is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and therefore accepted donations are tax deductible. Donors are responsible for establishing the value of their donation for tax purposes; GVSU cannot provide appraisals or recommend specific appraisers.
  • Always make arrangements with GVSU Art Museum staff before bringing your donation to the university. We follow nationally accepted standards for the handling and care of artwork, and we often need time to prepare space and paperwork to safely and legally accept donations.
  • Find more details on accepted donations as part of our Art Museum Processes.
  • To offer artwork to the GVSU Art Museum Collection, please begin the process by completing the "Gifting Artwork Contact Form."
