Opening Reception: Margin to Mainstream

- 8:00
p.m.
Margin to Mainstream: Recognizing Women Artists examines the evolving role of women artists within the art world, from histories of marginalization to growing recognition and influence.
As our capacity allows, GVSU Art Museum staff can arrange to visit classrooms with original works of art, host groups of students in our art storage facility, and provide tours of exhibitions. Each semester, we create learning resources and experiential opportunities related to exhibitions and the collection. We offer these experiences to GVSU classes, student clubs, Pre-K - 12 groups, and community groups.
GVAM has two exciting membership groups with various tiers, which means there is something for everyone, no matter what your interests. Your support helps us maintain our collection, offer educational programs, and show several exhibitions each year.
The Grand Valley State University Friends of Art is a group dedicated to supporting the GVSU art collection, art on campus, exhibitions, and events.
Membership perks include early RSVP access to public lectures, workshops, and other events, invitations to member-exclusive events throughout the year, sneak peeks at upcoming exhibitions and new acquisitions, newsletter mailings, and private events with the Curators and Director of Galleries and Collections.
The Grand Valley State University Friends of Alten is a group of generous individuals from across West Michigan who believe in the value of art and preserving the work of legacy artists in the GVSU art collection, with special attention to Grand Rapids' own Mathias Alten.
Gilded Frame level members receive a copy of the monograph Mathias J. Alten: An Evolving Legacy. Other membership perks include invitations to seasonal events, including exhibition receptions, artist lectures, panel discussions, and more.
