The Ottawa Conservation District was granted Section 319 funding from the EPA to reduce E. coli concentrations in the Bass River and Deer Creek Watersheds. AWRI is one of several partners working with the Conservation District to achieve their goals. AWRI delivered in August 2014 two map atlases to be used by project managers to facilitate community outreach. These map products describe population distribution, land use and cover, E. coli sampling locations, and in the case of Bass River modeling results showing the likely sources for nutrients and bacteria. AWRI staff will continue to work with the District in the design of other information and education tools useful in familiarizing residents with project intentions and future accomplishments.
