WCAG Compliance at GVSU
Helping the campus meet new federal accessibility requirements.
What This Means for GVSU
New federal ADA Title II rules require public universities like GVSU to ensure that all digital content meets WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards by April 2026. This applies broadly to websites, documents, videos, and course materials, not just centrally managed pages. The goal is to ensure equal access while reducing institutional risk and last-minute remediation. Because nearly everyone on campus creates or shares digital content, accessibility needs to be built in from the start, supported by clear guidance, tools, and shared responsibility across the university.
This site provides the guidance, tools, and training to support that work across campus.
