Grand Valley State University's new Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) is designed for those who have completed or are in their last semester of completing an applied associate degree (A.A.S.) and are looking to complete a bachelor's degree.

Major in Leadership and Business Fundamentals, B.A.S.
This unique package will expand your skills, enhance your resume, and empower you to take the next step toward your career goals. Students complete requirements for both the leadership certificate and the business fundamentals certificate as part of the core of the major, graduating with both certificates as well as their degree.
Leadership Certificate (12 credits)
The Leadership Certificate prepares graduates with core training in six primary competencies:
- Leadership Integrity (identity and values)
- Structural Awareness
- Interpersonal and Conflict Management Skills
- Diversity and Cultural Competency
- Creative/Critical Decision-Making
- Written/Oral Communication Skills.
Business Fundamentals Certificate (12 credits)
- Describe the fundamental role, purpose, and function of managers.
- Recognize, use, and communicate marketing information.
- Understand the fundamentals of accounting principles and transactions, and how they affect decision-makers in an organization.
- Identify, calculate, and analyze the costs of financial decisions in an organization, including product costs, labor costs, and budget variances.
