RN to BSN Program Agreement

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — Students at Northwestern Michigan College who are interested in pursuing nursing careers will have a seamless transition to earning a bachelor's degree at Grand Valley State University.
Leaders from both institutions will sign a concurrent enrollment agreement on Friday, May 24.
The concurrent enrollment agreement is between NMC's Associate Degree in Nursing program and Grand Valley's Kirkhof College of Nursing's RN to BSN program.
Cynthia McCurren, dean of KCON, said this type of collaborative model benefits students, institutions and health care providers.
"We are so pleased to work with NMC to support student nurses as they advance their education," McCurren said. "This model has emerged across the nation as a strategy to avoid duplication and steward resources efficiently. It certainly builds on the strengths of NMC and Grand Valley."
Stephen Siciliano, vice president for educational services at NMC, said the agreement will help students achieve their goal of earning a bachelor's degree in nursing while taking classes in Traverse City.
"Our students will be able to complete their bachelor's degree approximately one year after they graduate from NMC," Siciliano said. "This partnership supports our mission to provide lifelong learning opportunities to our communities."
The agreement will provide NMC nursing students with resources and coordinated advising services. KCON's RN to BSN program is offered in a hybrid format that blends online learning with in-seat meetings.
