*2022 PROGRAM* SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA - ¡Pura Vida! Join us on an adventure in the tourism capital of Central America ý experience not only rainforest hikes, white-water rafting, and zip lining; but also the Tico Pura Vida culture through experiences like chocolate making and Latin American dance classes. Explore national parks and natural areas, stay in eco-lodges, Costa Rican University dorms, and even spend a night with a Costa Rican family.
Established in 1972, COST is a collaboration of 15 colleges and universities in the United States that provides opportunities for its students to have quality student teaching experiences in overseas settings. Grand Valley State University currently serves as headquarters and coordinates international placements.

The program is designed to prepare Movement Science, BMS and Pre-Professional Health majors to work with diverse populations by introducing students to the culture and education of one of the most beautiful countries in the Caribbean.
*2022 PROGRAM* SANTO DOMINGO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - This program offers students the opportunity to expand their knowledge of the language and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world while living in the oldest European settlement in the Americas. Santo Domingo is at once a bustling urban center and a relic of the Spanish Caribbean colonial past.
*2022 PROGRAM: QUITO, ECUADOR - ¡Bienvenidos a Ecuador! Students will explore and experience the ecology and biodiversity of the cloud forest ecosystem of the equatorial Andes Mountains as well as canoe and explore the Amazon River headwaters - all the while being immersed in the South American, Incan and Amazonian indigenous cultures in and around the Quito region.
IBARRA, ECUADOR - This program allows second year occupational therapy students the opportunity to replace their traditional fieldwork course with a cultural immersion experience in Ecuador.

This course provides a comprehensive experience in an international festival/event. The application of theoretical concepts in an international festival/event allows students to thoroughly understand the festival and events industry, the complexity of designing, delivering, and evaluation of such experiences, and the application of the festival/events model.
*2022 PROGRAM* Paris & Bordeaux, France - The program starts in Paris, one of the world's greatest cities and the ideal point of departure for your study of French culture. The first three days are spent visiting La Ville des Lumières and adjusting to the time zone and language.
*2022 PROGRAM* Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany - The Summer German language program offers six weeks of intensive language instruction and a seminar on the culture and history of Germany. Students spend five weeks in the medieval town of Schwäbisch Gmünd and participate in a week-long excursion to Berlin. Schwäbisch Gmünd is a medium sized town in eastern Baden-Württemberg near the Bavarian border with a history that dates back to a Roman settlement in the second century.
Cape Coast, Ghana - This exciting program to Cape Coast, Ghana is an excellent opportunity for future teachers and students interested in the trans-Atlantic slave trade. From the tomb of "Osagyefo" Kwame Nkrumah to the art markets at the city center, students will find themselves surrounded by diverse culture as Ghana is divided into some 75 ethnic groups.
CAPE COAST, GHANA - This program offers an intercultural nursing experience and a unique way to compare different community-based health care systems. Community health center nursing experiences will include windshield surveys, individual and family health assessments, culturally appropriate health education, and analysis of the health system in Ghana, including the role of nurses, traditional health practitioners, and, how as a country, they address WHO millennial goals.
*2022 PROGRAM* ACCRA, GHANA - This program aims to enhance your preparation as competent social work practitioners in both domestic and international arenas of social welfare by engaging Ghanian counterparts in local villages, five days of volunteer experiences in a variety of settings, and offering numerous cultural excursions.
This program is an excellent opportunity for future K-12 teachers to gain valuable experience with literacy learning in the culturally and linguistically unique setting of Cape Coast, Ghana. This program offers an opportunity for future teachers to experience Ghanaian schools through both a tutoring field placement and an opportunity to develop a critical literacy project with Ghanaian children.
*2021 PROGRAM* ZACAPPA, GUATEMALA - This program gives graduate occupational therapy students the opportunity to have an international and inter-professional fieldwork experience in Guatemala. The host program providing the Guatemala experience is Hearts in Motion (H.I.M.) which has been in existence for over 20 years. H.I.M. provides care and medical treatment to those in need from the U.S., Central, and South America.

It will create a collaborative environment so that different majors can contribute their unique perspectives and skills. You will experience a brief taste of the city and visit sites like St. Stephen's Green, Grafton Street, Dublin Castle, Christ Church, and Trinity College. The second part of the trip will take you to the west coast port community of Galway, home of the University of Ireland, Galway (UIG).

The trip begins with three weeks in Tokyo, the nation's capital and cosmopolitan center, continuing with three weeks in Osaka, Japan's second largest city and center of the historically and culturally important Kansai region.

These important features are the basis for exploration and analysis in the Peace, Conflict, and Reconciliation study abroad program.
*2023 PROGRAM* HOEDSPRUIT (Kruger National Park), SOUTH AFRICA - This three-week program provides students with field-based international experiences in natural resource and sustainability issues including an appreciation of the relationships between South African ecology, culture, and physical environment. The program is designed to teach students about the functioning of the Greater Kruger National Park Ecosystem including the natural history and management of wildlife and vegetation.

The program, provided in partnership with the Women's Center, focuses on women and gender issues in the region and explores global feminist perspectives.

Schools in this region are becoming more and more multicultural, and in response, education has become trilingual: the subjects are taught in Galego (Galician), Spanish and English. By working in local classrooms, students will be able to compare the current education systems in the U.S
**2021 PROGRAM** Ourense, Spain - This study abroad program focuses on building intercultural communication skills and competence for careers in business, health, education and more. Students will live with Spanish host families, experience the diverse language and culture of the region, and engage in discussions on cultural awareness.
OURENSE, SPAIN - This program offers an opportunity for students in the College of Education to explore the educational system and cultures of the Galicia region in Northern Spain. Students will also be teaching in the local schools, either in English or Spanish based on student needs.
**2022 PROGRAM** Zurich, Switzerland: This program is a two-way exchange of a cohort group of students from both GVSU and the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW). A group of 10-12 students from GVSU travel for an intense two-week course in Python hacking of big data and SAS data analytics.
**2022 PROGRAM** ARUSHA, TANZANIA - Tanzania is located in eastern sub-Saharan Africa and is home to Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Serengeti. Our group will plan lessons and teach 15-20 hours per week in a local school while studying issues in education. We will interact with teachers and students in a culture much different from our own.
**2022 PROGRAM** BORSHCHIV, UKRAINE - The study abroad program in Ukraine is designed to educate students about the relationship between the environment and human beings. The courses will focus on how human activity has been shaped by the environment, as well as how humans have re-shaped the environment.
*2022 PROGRAM* LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM - Explore London museums and galleries and learn how to use travel as a resource for making art. You will visit and view the galleries in London as well as many other cultural sites. The Art in London course provides an opportunity for students to enrich their studio practice, expand their knowledge of Art History and make intelligent connections between resource materials and creative works.
**2022 PROGRAM** ORMSKIRK, UNITED KINGDOM - This program will take place at Edge Hill University in Ormskirk, situated near Liverpool and Manchester in a 12th Century market town. Students will visit the physical settings of some of the most important authors in the English literary tradition, including Shakespeare, the British Romantic poets and Charles Dickens. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to work on their own writing as they experience and explore the United Kingdom.
