Description

Are you interested in studying abroad on the UK British Literature & Culture in Context program? Join us for this LIVE info session with the program director!

About the program:

Ormskirk, United Kingdom - On this GVSU study abroad program, students visit the physical settings of some of the most important authors in the English literary tradition, including Chaucer, Shakespeare, Wordsworth, and contemporary poet Carol Ann Duffy. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to work on their own writing as they experience and explore the United Kingdom. Weekends are free for independent travel.

We are in England for 4 weeks, staying at Edge Hill University in Ormskirk. We study 4 major authors, with classes Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, we take a trip to a place that is special for that week’s author. We explore nearby Liverpool as we read Carol Ann Duffy’s poems. We go to Wales to visit a Medieval castle and Cathedral when we study Chaucer. We hike in the beautiful Lake District when we read the Romantic Poetry of William Wordsworth. And we visit Stratford-Upon-Avon, Shakespeare’s birthplace, to see a play by the world-renowned Royal Shakespeare Company.
