With two locations and a variety of appointment times that fit with your schedule, the University Counseling Center is an excellent resource for all Grand Valley students. From one-on-one appointments to a self-help directory, the University Counseling Center is here to help. Read on to learn a little bit more about the services that are free (yes, free!) to you as a student.

The UCCs are located at 206 Student Services building in Allendale and DeVos 101B at the Pew campus. Both offer online resources for students struggling with mental health as well as in-person services. Open Monday through Friday in Allendale and Monday through Thursday in Grand Rapids, they are more than willing to work with your schedule so you can make appointments that work for you.

The University Counseling Center has plenty of options to fit your session needs. One-on-one appointments can be scheduled with a counselor and last about 45 minutes. The University Counseling Center also offers group sessions that last about 50 to 80 minutes for those students who may benefit from working through concerns amongst peers with similar backgrounds or experiences.

Though the center is primarily for short-term help, they are the perfect resource to assist you in finding something more long-term. The University Counseling Center offers referrals during office hours and has a convenient tab on their website to help you find a counselor in the area. They even break down community providers by the type of insurance you may have or the service you’re looking for. If you’re unsure what kind of service you might need, they offer an online screening or you can set up a brief consultation appointment.

On top of counseling sessions, the center provides students with information about other mental health resources on campus. With a calendar full of events and peer educators willing to work with you, the University Counseling Center wants you to be informed on all things mental health.
