What is your end goal job?
General Manager for a destination golf course
What do you do at your internship?
As a Professional staff associate, I have many responsibilities
for the operations side of the golf course. These responsibilities
include the golf shop, merchandise, online shop orders, reservations,
and, assisting with general manager, head golf professional, and guest
service staff.
What is your favorite part of the internship?
My favorite part about working at American Dunes is being able to
help raise money for families who have lost someone serving for our country.
Any special skill that you use or had to learn at your
internship or job?
Telephone communication is a very important skill in a job
involving reservations and hospitality. I had to learn this skill when
I started my internship.
Any event or fun activity related to the internship that most
people may not know about?
American Dunes hosts an annual NCAA Division 1 college golf
tournament that is open to the public. Grand Valley State will also be
participating in the tournament as well.
Favorite thing that you get to do at your internship or job?
I get to meet amazing people from all over the world.
Advice for students searching for internships or jobs?
My advice would be to network as much as possible at your
internships. It is very important to build relationships because more
often than not those relationships will eventually land you a job.
