Visit the GVSU Retiree Directory at http://www.gvsu.edu/retiree/ and click on Directory. You will be able to connect with other GVSU retirees, however, you must register to be able to access the directory and to have your information included in the directory.
Yes. If you or one of your household dependents are in need of counseling services, contact Encompass at 1-800-788-8630 for an appointment. You are entitled to 7 free counseling sessions.
Retirees are entitled to a free membership. Simply fill out a Faculty/Staff membership form at the Rec Center Welcome Desk and make a note on there that you are a retiree. HR is contacted for verification before the membership is processed. Also, your spouse can be added to the membership for $20/year.
If you are an official retiree (meaning that your age + years of service equals 75 or more) you can register for classes free of charge. However, you must participate in all aspects of the class such as assignments and tests.
Grand Forum is an educational outreach program for adults 55 and older. Grand Forum provides the opportunity for individuals of diverse backgrounds to meet in an academic setting for the purpose of intellectual stimulation and social exchange. Led by university faculty and administrators, community leaders, Grand Forum members, independent scholars and local professionals, topics are offered in such fields as the arts, business, current events, history and science. Though you are no longer employed with GVSU, you are a Laker for a Lifetime and it is important to continue to provide you with parking options. The benefit of the Retiree Permit is that it allows you to continue to park as you did when you were working for the university. The Retiree Permit is valid for four years. You may exchange your current Faculty/Staff permit by stopping into the Public Safety office on the Allendale Campus. Please feel free to call or check our website for hours of operation. Annually, Public Safety receive an updated list from Human Resources of all active retirees. To be considered eligible, you will need to be registered on the Grand Valley Human Resources Retiree Connection website via the Retiree Directory. If you are on the list and your permit has expired, you will automatically receive a new Retiree Permit, sent to the address you last provided HR. If you have any questions or concerns, give Public Safety a call at 616-331-PARK (7275).

Yes, Retirees can post items on the Barter Board. Using your GVSU login, go into Outlook and click on all public folders. The Barter Board should appear under public folders.
