Hiking Trip - Moab, Utah (spring break)

Date and Time

Description

Join GVSU Outdoor Adventures to experience the wonders of naturally created sandstone arches in Moab, Utah. We will journey to explore two of the countries top National Parks; Arches, and Canyonlands.

Imagine waking up to wonders of rising red canyons. Each day you will be getting to know your newfound community better, learning about the area and yourself, laughing with your trip mates, and exploring one of the most scenic natural areas the west has to offer. You will traverse over canyon walls, and stop often to admire awe-inspiring river and arch views. You will learn the basics of wilderness travel - how to pack appropriately, cooking the backcountry, setup tents, and how to let loose. Throughout the trip, you will have the opportunity to sleep in a tent, cook your group a meal, and take responsibility for the well-being of yourself and your trip mates.

This course may be one of the most awe-inspiring and demanding things you will ever do. You should be aware of what you're getting into and be excited about tackling new challenges. It can take every waking moment to get from point A to point B. From steep canyon hiking to waking up before the sun rises, traveling in the wilderness can be hard. Past students agree that arriving physically fit and mentally prepared to take on the challenges will enhance your experience and ability to do well on the trail, which ultimately allows you to take full advantage of your trip.

Your trip leaders are highly qualified outdoor leaders and dedicated educators. they will serve as teachers, trainers, and mentors as you learn the skills required for wilderness travel. Trhough daily discussions, they will also help you and your group to discover the larger meanting of these activities. You will discover new things about yourself: how to deal with uncertainty, stress, and challenge; how you can better work with others; and your potential as a leader.

This trip requires no previous experience with hiking. However, even if you're an experienced outdoorsperson, there is still a lot that can be gained from the instruction.

Join us, as we take the adventure of a life time to the desert!
