Graduate Assistantships

Graduate assistantships provide a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience while advancing your education. These positions are ideal for students looking to strengthen their academic and professional skills before entering the workforce. Responsibilities include: working with faculty or staff on research, teaching, and service projects.

Full-Time Graduate Assistantships

  • Work Hours: 20 hours per week

  • Stipend: $6,500 per semester

  • Tuition Waiver: Up to 9 credits per semester

Half-Time Graduate Assistantships

  • Work Hours: 10 hours per week

  • Stipend: $3,250 per semester

  • Tuition Waiver: Up to 4.5 credits per semester

Eligibility & How to Apply

To be considered for a graduate assistantship (GA) position, you must be admitted to a graduate program at GVSU. Preference is given to students in the MPA, MHA, and PMASI programs.

Available GA positions funded by the department are posted in Workday. To apply, submit your application including cover letter that addresses research areas of interest and resume through Workday. Decisions for the fall semester will be communicated by August 15 and December 15 for the winter semester. Please note that funding is contingent on available resources.
