The International Student Support Fund (opens in new window) was launched in January 2026 to respond to emerging urgent student needs for help. International students are not eligible for traditional financial aid and rely solely on personal funds, alternative loans, and scholarships (which are few). Whether responding to circumstances outside the student's control, or unexpected costs incurred, this fund, awarded at the discretion of the International Student Services team, provides a lifeline for international students who find themselves in unavoidable and unforeseen monetary crises impeding their studies and compromising their health, wellness, safety or academic performance at GVSU.
