STEPS Camp Celebrates 25 Years

This summer, the Padnos College of Engineering celebrated the 25th year of STEPS camp. Science Technology & Engineering Preview Summer Camp (STEPS) is a day-camp preview of science, engineering and technology for rising 7th and 8th grade students.
The theme of airplane flight was once again utilized to integrate technical classes and recreational activities, all the while encouraging social development and personal growth. Student teams manufacture and assemble a radio controlled airplane with the assistance of teachers, counselors, and volunteers. By the end of the week, students fly their airplanes with the help of certified pilots. Throughout the week, they learn theory of flight, utilize manufacturing equipment and tools, and ultimately learn a lot more about their own personal capabilities and potential.
